Lynbrook is excited to announce lddocs@googlegroups.com!

There is a Google Group for the college debate circuit: debatedocs. Each year at policy camp, someone also makes a communal Google Group for the entire high school policy circuit. You may have seen these on other peoples’ wikis: ipostround, coldconceded, tornato, etc.

The motive behind these is to facilitate easier document sharing and email threads. If everyone adds a common Google Group to email chains, documents are automatically shared with everyone who wants them instead of having to add a bunch of emails to threads.

This also lowers the advantage big schools can gain due to their size and network advantage, as big schools who bring large staffs and many debaters to tournaments will end up on chains anyways. Smaller schools don’t get this same benefit by default.

Lynbrook has created the lddocs Google Group to serve a similar purpose for the high school LD debate circuit. The motive behind this is to democratize the document sharing process.

Joining

If you would like to join, please send an email to debate@smodi.net with the emails that you want added. The only condition for joining is that you agree to add lddocs@googlegroups.com to all your future email chains.

Naming Email Threads

It is highly recommended to use a standardized email naming convention so that threads can be easily searched later on.

For example:

Cal Finals---Aff Lynbrook VV vs Neg Harker SD---Nails, Patterson, Xu

Membership Settings

If you want to prevent yourself from getting all docs sent to your email, go to your membership settings page for lddocs and set your subscription to “No email.” You can still view all chains using the web interface.
